My parent s just flew back sg this evening and is expected to call me when they reach.
I cant upload much pictures in blogger, as it takes too long . but most of it is already in my shutterfly.
ok, so my most sincerest thanks to all those who sent me off that monday, cengeng siak korang. hehe. and also thanks to those who called me a few minutes before departure. maseh for the CD and box full of cows!!
So last tuesday during touchdown, i did have a bit of hiccup at the airport, but i think its normal. almost lost my luggage there, customs wasnt that bad.. (kurang asam nyer mat saleh)
and looking for the Deakin reception wasnt much of a problem. This Abang- Lah picked me n my parents up on time... then we went off to Geelong City, got our breakfast and stuffs to eat, and also checked in one of the motels. At the rate the motel was charging , i could say its hotel standard. But then again, theres no hotels around in geelong, only landed accomodations .. equivalent to chalets in sg. So luckily, the motel was a good one, at least my mum didnt complain much.. thats fine.
And on the same day at 6 pm we got to meet Alice, my peer support officer there. She just graduated with a MArch last year and helping out in the international student service. Anyway, she drove us around and showed us Geelong and how to get around , had dinner with her and Sam ( abang-lah jugak). And i also got my new aussie phone number! Wont be using my sg number anymore, but the sim card is in my mum's hp, so ill think of whether to still keep the number or not later on.
Food wise, there's not many halal options around town .. think i should be cooking most of the time. ( mampos aku masak , aku sendiri tak leh makan) Well, theres halal restaurants, mostly mediterranean and indian cuisine.. which is not wat we are used to . tapi aku sebat aje lah kan.
On Wednesday morning, went to the Waurn Ponds campus, and got my banking and international student stuff sorted out. Met those from the housing office, and was searching for nice rooms to rent in town. after that did some exploring on our own. Visited like the only 2 happening shopping malls in geelong city. Which is Market Square, and Westfield. Things are mostly on sale right now, .. alot of shops are going for things below 10 bucks. Cotton ON, Sportsgirl, ripcurl, billabong, clothes are cheap around here. I think only food is expensive. An average meal can cost about 9 bucks. taxi is expensive too..
Thursday morning , didnt have to go anywhere involving skool, so, we decided to explore Melbourne city!!!
Took the train, which is just behind the waterfront campus. 1 hour ride from geelong, and we got to Melbourne.. which was really different from geelong.. Geelong is a really nice place you know, very relaxed, quiet, and full of ambience. the people here are soooo friendly!!! i love this place !
but when i got to melbourne, i almost got a headache, its so busy.. everyone walking around.. and minding their own business. but mel is cool ... all the arts stuff are there.. it has very expressive kind of architecture there. I also went to guggenheim museum? and also the federation square.. i just wanted my parents to experince Mel before they leave. And, .. it was also Valentines day.. so yes, i experinced valentines day at melbourne,,, wasnt very exciting though, .. there were alot of flowers around but they dont really celebrate it.
ok , so for friday, i met Mo, a student as well who drove me to 2 prospective houses, .. anyway i got the first one, which is really nice.. will show u guys once i move in , in a weeks time. they are still doing some renovations.. so yea..
